hey all!
just wondering how Rain was created?!?!

its just that he just seems to have appeared out of no where,he has no ending or background...in the story and in the development of the mortal kombat series,ie; ermac was rumoured to be a glitch, noob saibot and smoke were hidden guys in mk2... but rain, rain isnt someone u have to do anything hidden to fight against...

if anything rain almost feels like a character they developed to make easy combos.. its button mashing two punch buttons and he does 6 hit combos...

any light on this character? and who did ermac end up being, according to his mk3 ending it says his real identity will be revealed in mk4? and it wasnt...

are there any good websites about this kinda stuff?

Well it was just a character they created, for UMK3 (although he's never been played as or against in that game) and as playable in MKT.

I believe that some early N64 instruction manuals had Rain's story as part of the Lin Kuei. But that was changed quickly to his Edenian / Shao Kahn's general story.

Oh and Ermac's ending shouldn't really be considered canon. Check Classic Sub Zero's UMK3/MKT ending for similar wording.

He was rumored so much in earlier games I think they just decided to put him in. he didn't get much thought, though, judging by his upside-down fatality.

When MK3 first came out he was rumored to be hiding behind one of the head stones in the cemetary and that he would stick his head out every now and then... also Rains name was on one of the stones... then UMK3 came out and they played off of the rumors...
Rain's "Lin Kuei" bio was supposed to be for Tremor, but he got scrapped for some reason. Rain was a joke about Prince's song " Purple rain", and the graveyard part is because Prince was dead or something.

There are a few reasons. In MK3, and UMK3 in the Graveyard, right as the fight begins look in the backround. Way in the back is a figure standing holding something in his arm. Hence the infamous Rain VS Screen Code. Everyone wandered who this figure was. When the ninjas were added to the game, they did have room for a few more fighters. Rain was thought up as in reference to the figure in the Graveyard, and was made into a ninja so he could have a purple color as in reference to supposedlly Ed Boon's favorite musician Prince. Prince sang the song, and stared in the film "Purple Rain" Originally they were going to have Rain in the arcade, and what you saw on the Demo mode was a few of his combos, and one special move. Reptile's Reverse Elbow Attack. He would always be fighting Shao Kahn, and almost always on the blue portal stage. In other words, he was like Human Smoke if you found him in a 1 Player Game. You only fight on one level. However, to this very day no one can actually saw they've fought against him, fought as him, and they really cannot say he does, or doesn't exist because he has never, ever been found. He is the Ultimate Hidden Fighter in UMK3. Most of the moves in Trilogy were what he was going to have in UMK3 minus Reptile's Elbow. That's what I know.

Rain is just a couple of pretriggered moves in the Arcade UMK3, he is not there. The ROM has been hacked to death.

Do you have a picture of this "figure" on the graveyard? I dont remember it.

Saying no one has found, played as or fought Rain in UMK3 is the same thing as saying no one has found played as or fought Ermac in MK1.

Both of these statements also are the same thing as saying no has found, played as, or fought something that isn't there.

All three of the statements are the same thing as saying "."

Dude, Prince is not dead, he is very much so alive.

You've got to wonder why Rain is the only ninja (not including Tremor, who was never playable) that has not been playable in MKDA/D...
