I've heard some people say that there are different versions of the Trilogy disc. Does anyone know if this is true (not that it would make a difference just didnt know that companies did stuff like that).

Yeah, there's the buggy version:
Which has had some properties altered from the UMK3 gameplay, things like the gravity etc.
Then there's the Greatest Hits version:
which is much closer to the gameplay of arcade UMK3.
Now I think I heard there is another PSX version:
If you look you can see the 'buggy' version picture has "Exclusive Playstation Edition" on the cover, whereas this one doesn't. Dunno if the gameplay is the same or not, or which one came out first... I'd guess the 'exclusive' one came out first, since MKT was released on Saturn, N64 and PC as well - which doesn't seem too exclusive to Playstation...
As for the other console versions, the N64 gameplay is terrible, if the Saturn version is anything like the Saturn UMK3, it too is awful, and I don't really know anything about the PC version.

damn! I had no idea there was a third version. Btw, has anyone ever bought the buggy version off of ebay? I'm not really too sure where else I could find it.
Later

I have the middle one, the GH version and the N64 version.
BTW, MKT came out for the Saturn?I know UMK3 did, but MKT did too?

I just checked online WOW, lol the review for it was not nearly as good as UMK3 for the Saturn.
Most people have it for the N64 or PS, you never hear of the Saturn version on MKT.
The bottom buggy one was the same as the PC and saturn versions as far as I can recall. I believe the 'psx exclusive' one (top) had an orange disk and was the real messed up one.
I've had the bottom buggy version for most of my life, then I lost it when I moved away from chicago, and then bought the GH version... twice... just incase.
MK2KB or DreemerNJ might know the difference, see which one they used for SP4. (I'm thinking the original 'psx exlusive')

Uh are you sure? I know that one has an orange disc and the other has a silver disc, and the silver one is the one like PC and saturn.

The Saturn version, the PC version, and the PSX version that came after buggy but before Greatest Hits seem the same. So, Saturn and PC have lower levels of gravity, people float more, meaning big combos (especially corner comobs) are more possible.
Greatest Hits for PSX is the version that we used for most of our combo vids, except for when there was something in the corner of the screen saying it was the Buggy version, because Greatest Hits MKT is the best version out there. I guess because of the poor sales on the Saturn and PC compared to the PSX, they just didn't continue to update Saturn or PC like they did the PSX.
Saturn PSX and PC were obviously developed together and ported to the different platforms. N64 MKT was its own beast all together, probably because of how different things were on the cartridge (far less space, different image formats, etc). There were a couple of different versions of MKT for N64 as well, but they all suck miserably.

At least its not GBC MK4 >.<
I don't know if you remember this DreemerNJ but it was a long time ago on a different board. No link because my question was so ridiculously stupid (embarassing). It might help some people out so here:

Version 1 for N64
Version 1.2 for N64
MKT for PC (which has the same bugginess as silver buggy PSX disc I believe. It is definately buggier then the Greatest Hits version).

I have an orange labeled MKT that iss just like the silver one in terms of gameplay, it's over my friend Steve's house right now and we played it less than a month ago. I don't know if there were other things about it that were fixed.

All I know is that since I have both the PS and N64 versions, I can't take the horrific loading times on the PS lol.God, it's so bad.In that time span I could have had at least 2 matches done in MKT for the 64 lol.
The game is definitely more broken then UMK3 though easily.
Thing is, for the PS there are more broken characters then the N64 version.Noob, Rain are really bad in it.Kung Lao is also, but even though I play with the ninja's a lot I really don't pick Noob and Rain a lot.
I wish I had a Saturn, this way I could play UMK3 for it.

N64 MKT is far more broken than PSX MKT. It has the broken characters of Noob and Rain, and they also broke a lot of the rest of the game by weakening the limitations on lots of things. It doesn't have MK2 Kung Lao, but it has more broken characters than him anyway. I'd rather have Mk2 Kung lao, Mk2 Jax, Mk1 Kano, Mk1 Raiden, and 2 Sub Zeros.
And loading times for PSX with fast character select, no buy in and no versus screens is not particularly bad.

It's worse in N64. There is no damage protection for Rain's roundhouse, so his infinite can be done 100% in about half the time and Noob's midscreen infinite only need's TWO punches between Tele-slams so it can be done on any character without any canceling, super easy.
EDIT: I happen to like N64 sub-zero though.

I know, I don't argue the case that MKT is far more broken in general then UMK3, just that I enjoy the N64 version more because those damn loading times really get to me lol.
I just prefer the N64 version overall I guess, they're both broken so as far as mere brokenness, it makes no difference to me lol.I wish they could have made UMK3 over again and call it MKT, it seemed as though MKT was rushed.
Yeah, Noob's infinite is fun and not that hard either compared to say Reptile's.BTW, with Noob-Saibot you're talking about the teleport slam right?
LOL, I thought you meant Ermac's teleslam for a minute. His telekinetic slam that is.
Does anyone here know how accurate UMK3 was for the Saturn?

Yes. Laziness get's to me
Teleport slam, punch, punch, teleport slam, punch, punch...
You can put in any variation of punches on atleast half the characters. it gets limited on sheeva and robo-ninjas. You don't have to run in after the teleport but it's easier. Psykosonik taught me all.

It was.
so little testing...

As far as I heard, you could do a standing HK infinite with sheeva. Other than that, I've heard it's the best UMK3 port, and it doesn't have Rain or Noob... (well it does have noob, just fightable though like in the arcade).

The best way to describe UMK3 on Saturn is "Looks can be deceiving."
And as far as the comparison of PSX and N64 MKT, there is no comparison. Everyone should deal with the minimal loading time there is for PSX and play that because N64's isn't even a game. It's a joke. It's not real MK, it's like they dropped the original database a bunch of times before burning the game chips.

I still whole-heartedly believe they used the source from SNES MK3/UMK3 to create N64 MKT. It has the same not-quite-put-together feel and the same lackluster move disabling properties. They took the old code, increased graphical and sound quality and added to the gameplay (since more could be processed between screen updates) to make it a lot better than MK3/UMK3 SNES. But it still feels very similar in how bad it was.

Ok, cool so UMK3 you guys wouldn't recommend getting for the Saturn then?
Only reason I'm asking is because I've never played the Saturn versions, if it's good meaning accurate to the arcade precisely, I'll might get one but if it's deceiving like MK2Kung says, then I'll pass.
OR, perhaps I should just wait until the 360 version comes out later on.

There is no good home version of UMK3.
It is available illegally for MAME, and hopefully soon an arcade quality (or better) version will be out for XB360.

I have the Greatest Hits disc and the game freezes up if the buy in counts down to zero. Is this just something particular to playing a PSX game on the PS2?

That's something that happens if you play MKT on PS2. Its one of the few PSX games that had a problem running on a PS2.
