There is a cheat to unlock the red and blue question marks in the options on the N64 MK TRilogy.
When the story comes up quickly (and I mean quickly) Press C-up C> C-down A B B B. If you just want the blue one for a start just press C- down
B A. The red unlocks...
Freeplay
Fatalty time(Unlimited time to enter your fatality)
Collision boxes(Boxes that appear after attacks.Kind of annoying)
One round Matches
Blue unlocks...
Level select
Throwing(Enabling or disabling it)
Unlimited running power
Bloody Kombat(Bloodier)
Human Smoke and Khameleon(The two question marks in the character select will become them.)
