The Lady Bug's alt costume (presumably) has her wearing a swimsuit, high-heel boots, long, black hair and bangs, with black and yellow scheme.

I'm all on board so far minus a few things... where's the blocking?? And aside from that I don't know if the combos will come near what mk9 did. The mechanics on this look very weighted (most the combos look pretty short or only have a short potential span).
It certainly looks different, that's for sure. The Bug Lady and Glowing Guy look right at home in MK but the Big Guy and Little Girl look very...gritty? Chaosrealm-y? They look very different.
I'm interested in the story now, that's for sure.

Typical Boon trolling. He must be enjoying all this like a Mad King on his throne.

a lot of people feel this way.
first off you don't fix what isn't broken. mk gameplay was at its peak of umk3. you can tweak it or you can update it but once you have found your niche(same reason they went back to 2d)...YOU KEEP IT. ill say it to I die mk needs to go back to the umk3 combo system. funny thing is every true mk fan knows this but the ones on this forum like act like they are so elite in progression. so what if you progress or change....its still trash. watch the honest trailers...that's what most of America thinks of mk4-mda-mka.
second everyone hated mk4. but now you love all this extra interactive activity from the stages? it looked alright to me but it does not belong on mk. also it is copying injustice. but lord forbid if mk copies something from street fighter that would make the mechanics less gimmicky and more of a technical fighting game....first thing they say is." mk is not street fighter blah...blah......blah.." so why are you happy with this gimmick stuff that is coped from injustice?
im not really upset with this stuff anymore im just voicing the opinions of real life fans that I know who are not on this board 24/7........like me.
i have been stop worrying about mk gameplay because its a fighter that made money off of hyper violence.
street fighter and other games still have good gameplay because they were made rich off of gameplay/technical/competitive skill.
I repeat I personally love the trailer (still don't think the new fighters fit in yet )but others in the community feel this way. I have not gave up on the game.....I will at least have to play a demo before it comes to that.

I'm very very... not crazy about that executioner guy, or rather that little imp on his back. I got a feeling it's gonna be extremely annoying.
The bug lady does look neat, and more like an actual woman (excluding her bug-face) than any female character in MK9. I think I see hips! Still though, fuck the heels. Both of the new characters seem to have much more of a Warner Bros. influence; they're not as dark as the characters from the previous game; it was actually surprising to see blood coming out of them. Still, they have potential, especially insect girl; I won't judge them yet.
Glowing dude, however, seems to fit right in appearance-wise. I wonder if he might be a radical redesign of an old character, or a new one all together. Hopefully new one all together.
The graphics and lighting are hugely downgraded from the CG trailer which I expected to some extent. But I hope this is the PS3/360 version. I just don't like how washed-out the colors look, so hopefully the PC/Next-gen version fixes that and has more impressive lighting. Big improvement over MK9 though.
It looks decent, it's nice to get a glimpse at how the game will be played, but it raises a lot more questions too. Like WHAT THE HELL IS THE STORY??

Sorry for being an idiot. Didn't pay attention to subzero's mask
New thoughts:
New characters look okay, but weirdly comic book-y. I mean, I thought "Injustice" as soon as I saw them. This may not be bad, but something looks odd when they are put alongside Sub-Zero and Scorpion.
Still pumped as hell. Looking forward to more STORY INFO. Very curious to see where we are going to now.

I hope that this was more of an emphasis on combos for the trailer, because I didn't see the parrying/countering from the original Scorpion/Subby trailer at all. Really hope that stuff's in there...
*Sighs* For those who keeps thinking there's ONE more new guy, I can assure you there isn't.
Sub-Zero is NOT wearing an alternate costume. Yes, his mask looks completely different, both the design itself and the coloring. However, it is NOT an alternate costume because he is clearly wearing the same outfit in both of the shots:
I am kindly showing you all this again so people can stop referring it as another costume. He is NOT wearing another costume. It's just a different mask. And I am fairly certain someone already answered as to why that is.

I don't know about you guys but I've always thought that MK really needs an annoying child character who is constantly making ear piercing noises. Great addition
why are you typing like that on MKO

It's not an alt costume if you're refering to the one receiving bug lady's fatality, it's the same one. Look all the details, his costume during the Scorpion fight also loses the right side emblem and the mask freezes over and turns white.
He has all the same details, the same stuff on his clothes, his arms, etc. It's just that scenario light.

I gotta be honest here. Master Blaster looks terrible. If you like the concept of a little man riding a big man... okay, cool. To me, it looks like something out of a Jim Henson production. If you asked me what Gears of War would look like if made by Jim Henson, I'd imagine something like our friend Master Blaster here.
The Bug Lady (for now at least) looks a bit bland as well. You can tell me to wait for better resolution, and maybe you're right. Maybe there are elements I'm not seeing yet. Higher resolution ain't going to help the concept though: she's a bug lady. A lady with bugs. A bunch of bugs being controlled by a lady. Again, it's not my fancy
I know the negativity police are blaring their sirens right now, but I can't help what I like, but just to be clear, this is NOT me saying I'm abandoning MKX and that change is inherently bad (no one actually has said that in the thread, btw).
Here's to Tuesday. We'll see what they reveal. I need to see more before I comment on the gameplay.

Nah, not just by an alternate. I think color doesn't really matter anyway, it just comes down to A) Who they want to include, B) Who can benefit the story plus who'll benefit the gameplay and C) Who fans want to see.
Tanya still has a fair shot, I think, either in the main roster or DLC.

I'm a little bummed by people dismissing the new characters out of hand because they don't "feel" like MK characters. The sentiment here seems to be that, absent Sub-Zero and Scorpion, we wouldn't be able to tell that this was a Mortal Kombat game.
Not sure that's entirely fair. I think it's easy to feel this way coming off the heels of MK9, where the whole point was recreating an appeal and aesthetic from well over a decade before. That experience really, really worked and it was super fun, and the nostalgia was pretty great for everyone, I think. But there are a whole lot of us ready to let that experience go and move on to something new. If we don't, we're just asking NRS to keep remaking Mortal Kombat Trilogy until the end of time.
It still has to be an MK game, and thus it has to carry some core of that old aesthetic. But every one of the old games brought in wacky new character elements that don't really fit in anywhere, either.
I wonder how everyone felt in 1994 when they learned that Boon and company were introducing cyborgs to the series or undead drag queens with prehensile weave? (Said lovingly, btw. Sindel's my girl.)
