The entire point of MK9 was that Raiden fucked things up way worse than they were before.

As it stands right now, the good guys stand no fucking chance against Shinnok. Not even if they bring every single MK4-MKD C-lister to their side.

The only way this could be resolved is via some sort of cosmic-level deus ex machina asspull.

I do think this could indeed be battle attire for Shinnok. Let's be honest, Shinnok looked like a red pope. While that is slightly scary, it's not very intimidating. I feel like this blue Aztec character could indeed be Shinnok himself.

Hector tweeted Boon about him. He said that he had been waiting to see this "Aztec warrior" since 1993. So this guy has been thought of before.

Midget's sitting on big guys' backs has been done in other media and I can even remember it being done before in a video game (kinda). There was a fighting game in the arcades and later ported to the N64 called "Mace: The Dark Age" that had a small dwarf like character piloting a robot, much like how the duo in MKX works. A little different, but same concept.

In movies it's been done several times, most notably Master Blaster from Mad Max beyond Thunderdome. Ace Ventura 2 had one where Jim Carrey fought the little guy in the duo, and in a deleted scene from "300" there were lot's of them.

They may seem out of place right now, but I think that character(s) will fit in nicely with MK, especially if there are a lot of other worldly characters like bug girl.

I'm seeing some people complaining that the new characters look out of place, but has anyone seen the characters that go up on this forum's Kreate a Kharacter contest? If fans are making these kinds of characters for themselves, then...?

The Aztec guy is from War Gods, I'm telling you! At least, he was inspired by War Gods.

If he somehow turns out to be Shinnok, I'd be even more disappointed about that than the other new characters. Screw Shinnok with his McDonalds fry box on his head. Goofy jester


That's what those weirdos on IGN were saying in their analysis video. They said "People have been saying this is Shinnok" and the same guy also said Sub Zero with the white mask was a whole new character. Yeah, okay, sure.

I'm not really sure how I feel about these new characters, at least design-wise. The big guy/midget combo seems a bit too Soul Calibur-esque, as does the Aztec looking dude.

As for bee-lady, I dunno how I like her look, but a character that controls insects is something I've been interested to see.

I think the Aztec is "Hachiman" from Asian Mythology. He is the God of War and brother of Raiden, Fujin, and Suijin. I hope they call him "AzteK" in the game. LoL. He probably steps down from Elder GodHood to Fuck Shit up!

LadyBug looks awesome. BiggieSmalls is weird, but still excited for it.

But you're absolutely right, his look is strange and by no means intimidating. He looked a lot better in the last scene of MK9 with a more weathered face. I wouldn't be upset at all if this blue Aztec warrior turns out to be him.

With Shao Kahn out of the picture, I wonder is this will turn into a battle of the realms. I'd love to see a lot more outlandish characters.

I'd like half the cast to consist of your regular martial arts characters, and the rest consist of monsters, freaks, gods, etc.

The new trailer looked amazing, and the three new characters have my attention for sure. Definitely want to learn more about them soon. Loved it!

People need to stop saying the frost mask Sub is a new character. He's literally wearing the exact same this as Sub-Zero in the CG trailer and in the new gameplay vid. It's obvious it's not a new character, and just some gameplay element that is new. Just like Scorpion getting swords in it (you can even see Sub's white mask then too.)

Pointer: the mayincatec warrior sports a very trim pimpstache during the blood drinking fatality. He looks kinda like Sinestro.


Shinnok was a playa' before he went old?

The sentiment that these don't "feel" like MK characters is absurd; these characters easily could be from one of the many different realms of the universe. The grappler for instance for sure looks like someone from the realm of chaos. Do they fit in line with many of the classic characters? No of course not, but for good reason: all of those characters are either from Eartherealm or Outworld. Clearly there is some sort of "crossing the streams" happening with the story for this game, probably because of Shinnok.

To everyone hating on the new characters hear this. Would you rather have palette swapped ninjas and big breasted strippers or something entirely new? The only reason they seem out of place is because they have great designs. Something we haven't seen much from MK. It looks much darker than MK9 and that's what I've been wanting. As far as the gameplay goes the fights were both very different. Scorpion and Subby had an amazing fight where it didn't look clunky and jerky like past MK games but it was a lot smoother. The other fight did look a big clunky and I am guessing its because they haven't yet refined the new characters move sets yet. It will get there in time.

Sadly yes. but those people do not deserve tis MK in the first place. Hell, they have MK3/UMK3/Trilogy/Armageddon/MK9 to play with. Honestly, this seems it's one of the most ungrateful fanbases ever.

Obviously I am exaggerating, but seriously: enough with the retro-cocksucking. I fear I might not be exaggerating here.

As amusing as that would be, I think that's a spiky septum piercing to fit with the tribal Aztec appearance.
